Description: Inspired by the mechanics of early flying machines, The Ornithopter perches on grass, casting flickering shadows to create an enjoyable shaded public space. Once a visitor pedals on the bicycles’ wheels, the pair of double-stacked wings flap up and down, interacting the light and shadow in real-time. The artwork creates a dialogue with the public who can instantly transform the surrounding environment. Rhythm of the flapping wings echoes with the speed of the city and activates the public space.
